Founded in 2017 by architect Tosin Oshinowo to celebrate her Yoruba culture, Ilé Ilà, translated "House of Lines", is a lifestyle furniture line designed and handmade in Lagos, Nigeria. Oshinowo, who is known for designing the iconic Maryland Mall in Lagos, turned her interests in product design to create functional chairs that bring bright explosions of color into contemporary pieces while also placing them in a Nigerian-African context.
The Ilé Ilà aesthetic is fueled by a love of West African fabrics and hardwoods which form the basis for the brand’s expression and identity. Each piece is a celebration of African culture

The Ilé Ilà ìtẹ contemporary armchair showcases Asò-oké textile combining a modern color palette with Victorian era refinement. Asò-oké textile, pronounced ah-shaw-okay and meaning top cloth, is hand loomed from cotton by expert Nigerian Yoruba fabric makers using centuries old techniques. The fabric, which is used for special occasions, is typically passed on from generation to generation.
Adding the ìtẹ armchair to any living space can create a bright accent that will liven up the home. The colorful and authentic Asò-oké fabrics deliver heirloom quality and comfort, while the down-wrapped cushion creates a soft look and feel. Showcase African modernism with striking style.
