MAKE HOLIDAY DECORATING DELIGHTFUL
Preparing table decor for the holidays can sometimes feel overwhelming. There are often many elements to consider and plan for. To make the process less stressful, founder and CEO of NJA Interiors Naïka Andre recommends creating a simple mood board. This will help you organise your ideas and assemble table decor ideas in a clear, cohesive way. Another way to make the process more enjoyable is by involving other people. “My number one tip for decorating for the holidays is to have fun! Make it a family affair, pour yourself a glass of wine, assign everyone a task, put on a good playlist and get to work.” To make your table decor ideas stand out, Andre suggests “layering, incorporating décor items of various heights and sticking to a color story.” When it comes to table setting for various occasions, Andre has some staple pieces such as linens and china that are permanent fixtures. However, she incorporates “different elements specific to each occasion so the décor looks and feels different.” For the holidays, I love mixing in accent lighting and greenery to elevate the ambiance,” she adds.
WOW GUESTS WITH DINNERWARE
Architect Samantha Josaphat and interior designer Danielle Fennoy both center their holiday table decor ideas around dinnerware. Beautiful serving spoons, bowls and plates are timeless table decor ideas that can dazzle guests. “Use small saucers that showcase the different color palettes of the cuisine, instead of just pouring it right on top of the food,” says Josaphat. Organising dinner parties is a collaborative process between her and her fiance, Luis. “He prepares the majority of the dishes because his passion for cooking is way stronger than mine, and I make sure the good taste is properly represented by thinking of how to present the dishes and drinks,” she explains. For Fennoy, “a casual scattering of plates and platters, especially at different heights, is always an easy and dramatic entertaining tip.” “Mix beautifully displayed appetizers, mains, and desserts on the table or counter and let people graze as they like.” These organically shaped, carefully crafted porcelain white with 18k gold accent salad plate sets add a whimsical tropical touch. Fennoy also recommends using flowers, candles and festive beverages as go to table decor ideas.
TRANSFORM YOUR TABLE WITH NATURE
Bring life to your holiday table decor ideas with fruits, vegetables and plants. Placing fruits like cherries and blood oranges in ceramic dishes like this stunning Binga serving platter will provide color and freshness. Layer branch cuttings over pine or eucalyptus leaves to create a ravishing centerpiece.
Pair this centerpiece with elegant napkins such as this handmade Alem cotton napkin 4 set from Ethiopia.
