PRESERVING MOROCCAN HANGING LIGHTS
Moroccan design house Dounia Home, is a Moroccan hanging lights company committed to aesthetic authenticity, craftsmanship and ethical production. Hand pierced metal shades create soft glows when hung in modern spaces, a beautiful homage to traditional Moroccan lighting. Here’s more on Dounia Home.
PRESERVING ANCIENT METALWORKING TECHNIQUES
The Moroccan hanging lights and floor and table lamps are conceptualized by the founder Dounia Tamri-Loeper. Her designs are inspired by 7th-century Moroccan architecture and represent the far past as well as the present. Dounia collaborates with a team of local Marrakech artisans who handcraft each piece from locally-sourced metal including brass, copper and nickel silver. All three metals are 100% recyclable, requiring less energy-intensive processes while maintaining durability and longevity.
Dounia Home incorporates high quality LED lights that are energy efficient and mimic the natural sun spectrum of light. Each piece creates a scattered light pattern that shines through the hand-etched designs of the Moroccan hanging lights. “We are bringing something special to the world,” says Tamari-Loeper. “Modern Moroccan lighting and home decor collections that are a true marriage between form, function and craftsmanship.”
AN ETHICALLY CONSCIOUS COMPANY
Dounia Home stands behind their eco-friendly processes. Each Moroccan hanging light fixture is 100% handmade and a result of a small batch operation.
Tamari-Loeper provides fair wages, fair schedules and opportunities for partner designers and artisans. “We honor and empower artisans creatively, economically, and culturally through a collaborative business model that showcases, preserves, and supports traditional art forms.”

Dounia Home is where traditional Moroccan light and modern craftsmanship intersect. Tamri-Loeper earned her Bachelor’s of Science from Drexel University in 2010. She launched Dounia Home in 2016, bringing Moroccan designs to homes around the world. Dounia Home’s Moroccan hanging lights have been featured in ELLE South Africa, New York Design Magazine, and Conde Nast Home & Garden.
