EGYPTIAN KILIM RUG WEAVING

Steeped in Egyptian heritage, Fowwa’s handwoven kilim rugs embody artistry, tradition, and sustainability. Inspired by geometric motifs and nature, these rugs reflect a timeless aesthetic, blending ancestral symbolism with contemporary design. Earthy tones and bold patterns pay homage to Egypt’s landscapes, from the Nile’s flowing waters to desert dunes.

Sustainability: Crafted with locally sourced wool and dyed using plant-based pigments, Fowwa kilims embrace eco-conscious practices. Their zero-waste weaving technique ensures minimal environmental impact while preserving traditional craftsmanship.

The Artisanal Process

  1. Hand-spun wool is dyed using traditional plant-based methods.
  2. Slit-weave technique creates crisp, geometric patterns.
  3. Weaving is done by memory, preserving generational artistry.
  4. Rugs are hand-trimmed, washed, and sun-dried for a refined finish.

Nice, but darker than picture

I thought the rug would be a light tan but it is actually darker than the pictures.

Hi Susan
Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We understand that you expected to receive a rug in the exact same shade as shown on our website. We strive to ensure that our website images accurately represent the colors of our rugs. However, as each rug is 100% handcrafted, no two are exactly alike, including slight variations in color. These variations are a testament to the unique, handcrafted nature of each piece, making every rug one of a kind. We hope you find beauty in the uniqueness and appreciate the artisanal quality of your rug, despite the small color variations.
